NaJei Webster

NaJei Webster, also known as Jei Jei, is a fearless woman who has survived and been impacted by the Illinois criminal justice system. She served eight and a half years and was released from IDOC with a passion to help the women she’d left behind. She has been home almost 3 years and since her release, she has found a passion in programming and advocating for individuals who cannot advocate for themselves. She started a volunteering program that helps connect individuals to the people incarcerated in IDOC, to help them with their reacclimation to society. Accountability is the theory in which NaJei was sentenced under and she has spent several hours advocating and testifying on the travesties of this theory. As a young woman with a story of trauma to triumph, NaJei spends her spare time mentoring the youth and sharing the wisdom she’s acquired from her journey. Shortly after coming home, NaJei took on the brave challenge of obtaining custody of her younger brother and helping him find stability in life. He just recently graduated high school. She’s so proud of that. NaJei continues to help educate the community on legislation and how to advocate for themselves, while continuing to find different ways to help the people she’s left behind.
