Although I'm Incarcerated, My Life Has Purpose
Hola Amigos,I write to you from within these prison walls with joy because many things in my life have changed. At least I know my story will escape, flying like a little bird, and lots of people will see the film. I really hope to see it one day too. This project helped me to climb the walls of my reality. Thank you to the people who have watched Sansón and Me, or read my story here and then sent me a postcard. If you haven’t written a postcard, I would like to hear from you!Receiving mail from you all is beautiful because it opens a window for me to see other people’s opinions about my story and the issues surrounding it.I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to hear from each of you. Your words give me the strength to push harder and prepare myself to impact the world positively. I want to inspire those incarcerated with me and others not to give up and to keep moving forward.I recently joined a new group called Lives Worthy of Purpose. The group includes about 60 people who are serving sentences of life without parole. Our goal as a group is to support and encourage each other, and to join efforts beyond the wall to advocate for ending life without parole sentences and the death penalty. The criminal legal system needs reforming, and I want to do all I can to encourage change so that others do not have to experience the same dark journey as me. Laws need to change, and we must continue fighting against unfair sentencing policies.Although I am incarcerated, my life still has a purpose. I’ve never lost my hope of getting out of this cage. I always think about being with my son. Every day I dream of being by his side and finally enjoying my freedom. One day I want to reenter society and be an agent for change. Until then, I am doing all I can to fight for myself and other less fortunate people. Thank you for listening to my story. Will you join me in this movement?Sansón Noé Andrade"I hope this campaign helps us connect with my friend Sansón, to understand his life, and to question how we think about these big problems. Let’s give ourselves the opportunity to reimagine our society because a better world is possible.” - Rodrigo Reyes, Director, Sansón and MeSend Sansón a postcard to let him know you are listening to his story. Complete a short form with your message, and we will work with the nonprofit Ameelio to print and mail a postcard from you to Sansón.
